  2. Dig a trench a minimum of 12” wide by 6” deep. (ask associate for your wall)
  3. Pack the floor of your trench and add 2” crusher fines or road base. Wet crusher fines/roadbase and tamp. Note: Experts often use ¾" crushed granite instead of Road Base.
(SANTA FE SAND & GRAVEL RENTS PLATE COMPACTORS)
  4. Level the surface in both directions with a carpenter's level. Replace a level Stringline where the top of your first course will be.
  5. Always begin at the lowest point of the wall. Position the stones side by side, Lip down on prepared base. For base course, break the lip off for easy leveling. Level each stone in both directions with torpedo level. Once base course is complete, continue assembling additional courses by positioning the stones in a staggered pattern to the coarse beneath.(SANTA FE SAND & GRAVEL RENTS BLOCK SPLITTERS -OR- THEY WILL SPLIT/ SAW CUT BLOCKS FOR A NOMINAL CHARGE)
  6. For most walls, put 4 - 6” of ¾” crushed rock behind wall for drainage.
  7. Caps are available for most walls. RG Construction Adhesive is advised to keep the caps in one place.
Note: If you need to install a tall wall, over 4' please ask a sales associate for details. The use of geogrid is essential in larger walls or walls with surface pressure. SEALERS, CLEANERS, TOOLS, AND MORE ARE AVAILABLE FOR RETAINING WALL BLOCKS. Block Price List
